I utilised to go round to a neighbour’s house to allow his two West Highland White Terriers out into the garden although he was out at operate. Often this youthful Bearded Collie (oops, not a Border Collie as I at first wrote) who lived in the next house above would see me and go berserk with excitement at the adjoining fence till I gave it focus. I in no way met the owners so I never know the dog’s title.

My neighbour’s two Westies the two died this 12 months so as a outcome I no longer see this playful and energetic dog either.

Tim and I do not refer to the colony as feral because to us, "feral"
equates with "wild". With much patience and love each cat has learned to
respond to it’s name. Some can be picked up and petted and some not. Many of
the colony have far refined characteristics as compared to a "feral" cat.
Noisy and Black were abandoned last year. Both are very friendly and
definitely adoptable. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find
a good home for them. It took 6 months of hard work to find a home for the
last cat that the owner abandoned. ( we have adopted almost 50 cats in the
last few years that were abandoned). So, as you can both see, we try to do
our best and at this point in time, the remaining members of the colony are
very happy and content where they are. We feed them every morning before
work and again in the evening. They always have fresh water, dry food and
eat 20 cans of Friskies etc. a day plus their special treats of mackerel and
roaster chicken.
We read the comment on your sunset photo. A person can not assume that all
cat colonies behave the same. These cats hurt no one, damage nothing and do
not interfere with the daily operation of the boardwalk.

all dry foods are too high in carbohydrates to be healthy for cats. There are healthier dry foods, but that is pretty much like a healthier cookie for humans.. it is still a cookie when it is all said and done.

as for the constipation, are you sure the cat is having issues passing stool? or have you just not seen any for a day or two? If he is straining, are you sure it is in the colon and not possibly the urinary tract? a cat that is straining to pee can seem like it is constipated,but urinary troubles can be very dangerous if left untreated. cats with urinary issues can be producing crystals and excess mucus which can block them which can kill them in 72 hours. You might want to get your kitty into a vet to be sure exactly what is going on

If you can get your cat on a good quality canned cat food is the way to go and stay on it as dry cat food can cause alot of problems as the cat get older like crystals in the urine..Cats need the moisture from the can and always have plenty of water beside their food dish.

I feed Purina, Friskies, or Nine Lives. But I do steer away from store brand feed. It’s cheap for a reason, it has no nutritional value to it. Most of it is filler, it just goes right through them.

choose something that you can get locally and that you can afford…

if you are feeding him the right amount and he is getting plenty of exercise then he will not loose any of that muscle that he has built up…

also, you know if you are feeding him right by his body condition…you should be able to feel his ribs when you run your hand down the side, and maybe even see the last one or two. when looking from above there should be a distinction between his rib cage and stomach…
