Eulogy for Uncle Teddy

Am I glad Hitler is dead? Yes. Am I glad Stalin is dead? Yes. I’m I glad Mao is dead? Yes. So why would I not be glad Uncle Ted is dead? You Commie libs look at him as a savior of the poor and want to soak the rich to pay for it. What a bunch of hippocratic dicks. Uncle Ted is one of the elite rich bastards you complain about. He inherited his riches. Stupid fucks.

His father got rich by bootlegging booze during prohibition. He was a criminal. You can google and wiki Joe Kennedy and find he wanted to talk with Hitler to compromise World War Two.

Now we find Uncle Ted worked with the USSR to try to bring Reagan policies down. The nut doesn’t fall far from the tree. Commie bastard. I know you won’t use Fox News search to find that one. Ignorance is bliss.

Everyone talks about “No child left behind”. He worked with Bush to push this one though. I don’t care that he worked with Bush on it, it was bad. Children don’t get failed but every three years. I know this because I live next door to a teacher who gives me the poop on the school system, you failed morons.

Let’s talk about Chappaquiddick. Mary Jo Kopechne was found with no water in her lungs. Could be she was dead before she was drove in the drink. Could be she was going to stop his Presidential run. Well, she did anyway. No matter how you look at this one, he was stupid/evil for it.

Payback is hell, shitheads. You criticized Ronald Reagan after he died. May the devil roast Teddy’s soul in hell after the worms eat his flesh. Good riddance. Ptht!

On Teddy’s way out SOMEBODY wrote & dispatched a letter to Mass. governor to violate the rules & appoint a democrat to take Teddy’s senate seat. I dont think Teddy wrote that letter because he was probably unconscious.

Reason why I think he was not capable in writing that letter is because it was said that when Obama called the Kennedy family to arrange a visit, they told him that it was not a good time because Teddy was talking incoherent & out of his head. So does that sound like someone who is of sound mind to write instructions to the govenor.

I wonder who wrote that letter.

Another thing I want to add is about the American flag on Teddy’s coffin that was brought inside of the catholic church. I have participated in countless veterans funerals & was part of a veterans drill team. Some of the deceased veterans were catholic. The catholic church has a rule that flags of ANY nation are not allowed inside the church. We have had to leave the Flag outside the church & when the coffin is wheeled in we take the flag off & when wheeled outside we put the flag back on the coffin. This is a hard & fast non-negotiable rule of the catholic church.

So does the rules change because its Teddy Kennedy? So much for playing by the rules.

I also want to add another comment about entitlement grap of the Kennedys.
    1. He, a WEALTHY man gets subsidized healthcare. Meraning that WE the people for this. And its damn good heath care. If he wanted to do right by the poor folks, then he would had opted to not take the healthcare and pay for it out his own pocket

    2. He, a WEALTHY man gets to be buried at our expense in Arlington cemetery. I still don’t think he served in the military & need to see the proof to believe that he was in military. This man was an opponent of the Vietnam war. He was the one who rallied the rage against our Vietnam veterans when they came home. Yet he takes up valuable burial real estate that is very scarce; and our veterans need that spot he is being buried in.

Hey Blog, right and he wasn’t in the service either but being buried at Arlington? disgusting.

    Hey, I’m not offended.

Did you see that grave site ceremony when the priest and teddy’s grandson started talking about universal healthcare. the grandson started crying and said that he couldn’t do it… then he blurted out that his grandpa wanted universal healthcare. How low can these folks go?

It is interesting that one of the politic’s most powerful families is a family whose money was made from illegal activities.

Personally, I did not agree with Prohibition. It did not work and was generally a bad idea to begin with. More prohibition begets more crime.

However, it was law, and the head of the Kennedy family broke the law. Pure and simple. And we salute that?

    Shameful.

Hi Foxwood — thanks for commenting on my blog last week. I wanted to let you know that I reposted your Constitution Project today (as you said in it that it could be reposted :-) Great column.

As far as Teddy: At this point he’s in one of two places and for either one, doesn’t care much what’s going on now with health care.

Watching George W. Bush at the funeral of Teddy Kennedy on Saturday was, to say the very least, amusing. It’s always great fun to witness the members of the vast right wing conspiracy confronted head-on with the theological flaws that are inherent in their philosophy. Watching that event with my pal, Kevin Swanwick, we both were mesmerized and just slightly overjoyed to be reminded yet again that the basic tenets of Liberalism are in perfect harmony with our Christianity – our Catholicism: feed the hungry, shelter the poor and clothe the naked. Oh, how I wish the camera would have cut to Bush’s face the moment he was confronted with the most famous line (and justly so) from the Gospel according to Matthew:

“I tell you this: whatever you did to the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me.”

    Jesus of Nazareth

One can only imagine how uncomfortable that passage from the scriptures must have made him feel. Or how about the Sermon on the Mount?

    “Blessed are the peace makers
For they shall be called Sons of God.”

I imagine being confronted with the words of Jesus Christ might make old George just a tad uneasy. The prayers that were offered up by the youngest members of the Kennedy clan, in Teddy’s own words, were the most touching part of the entire day:

“That human beings be measured not by what they cannot do. That quality health care becomes a fundamental right and not a privilege. That old policies of race and gender die away. That newcomers be accepted, no matter their color or place of birth. That the nation stand united against violence, hate and war. That the work begins anew, and the dream lives on. We pray to the Lord.”

    Lord hear our prayer.

After the mass had ended, and Kevin and I headed into town to get a cup of coffee, I was almost stunned by the good cheer I felt. Ted Kennedy’s funeral was truly a joyous event. Truth be told, it was damned-near therapeutic! The politics of joy as opposed to the politics of fear. There ain’t nothin’ like it in the world, Baby!

The stark contrasts between the ideals of the Progressive movement and the right wing’s backwards and greedy ideology were out in public Saturday for all to compare and contrast at Our Lady of Perpetual Comfort Church in Boston. The differences were so obvious, you could not have missed them had you tried.

No such thing as a “vast right wing conspiracy, pal. Just liberal loser philosophy.

Watching that event with my pal, Kevin Swanwick, we both were mesmerized and just slightly overjoyed to be reminded yet again that the basic tenets of Liberalism are in perfect harmony with our Christianity – our Catholicism:

So Kennedy killing a woman, and the “waitress sandwich” are fine in the Catholic community? I don’t think so. So murdering babies in the womb is Christian? Maybe you need to talk to the Pope, bud.

feed the hungry, shelter the poor and clothe the naked. Oh, how I wish the camera would have cut to Bush’s face the moment he was confronted with the most famous line (and justly so) from the Gospel according to Matthew:

Charity does just that, I hear your guy, Berry Obutthole, is not allowing tax credits for charity. Such an upstanding Christian, isn’t he.

Now for a word from our founding fathers, who, by the way, where Christian.

“Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated.” — Thomas Jefferson

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” — James Madison

“I tell you this: whatever you did to the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me.”

    Jesus of Nazareth

    Amen

One can only imagine how uncomfortable that passage from the scriptures must have made him feel. Or how about the Sermon on the Mount?

“Blessed are the peace makers For they shall be called Sons of God.”

“Peace makers”, you know what happens after you win a war? Peace. Does that make George Bush a “peace maker”? I can quote you several instances of war in the bible. Solomon and David come to mind. Read your bible.

I imagine being confronted with the words of Jesus Christ might make old George just a tad uneasy. The prayers that were offered up by the youngest members of the Kennedy clan, in Teddy’s own words, were the most touching part of the entire day:

    Ecclesiastes 3
    A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

    8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war; and a time of peace.

    Again, read your bible.

So how’s that hope and change? Didn’t Berry Obutthole quadruple the deficit? I believe that makes this Berry’s economy. Aren’t we still in Iraq and Afghanistan? Seems I remember better times under Reagan.

The stark contrasts between the ideals of the Progressive movement and the right wing’s backwards and greedy ideology were out in public Saturday for all to compare and contrast at Our Lady of Perpetual Comfort Church in Boston. Hey, pal! Did you forget that Uncle Teddy inherited his millions, like the greedy you talk about. Did Obutthole steal his millions from the poor, like you claim “greedy Conservatives” do? What about John F’ing Kerry? Or John Edwards? Talk about “greedy ideology” and hypocrisy. It’s like liberal loser talk out of their mouth and their ass.

Obutthole removed tax credits from charity, Uncle Teddy killed that woman in Chappaquiddick, invented the “waitress sandwich, and promoted killing babies in the womb. That is very Christian. You’ve got one sick mind.

    Mr. Degan,

I am trying to understand how you think liberalism and Christianity go hand in hand. Being a libertarian, I find fault with the Right and the Left equally. The compassionate conservative movement (what most people call the religious right) is based on the old progressive platform of Christian Socialism. Modern day liberals, like yourself, hate this; but you can never quite grasp the fact that conservatives just have a different view of progressivism.

Your side (liberals) would have us feed the hungry, shelter the poor and clothe the naked all on the taxpayer dime. Forced charity through taxation amounts to nothing more than theft in my book. If anything, your Catholic Church is as much to blame for this as big government. The church should be putting the government out of business in the arena of “feed the hungry, shelter the poor and clothe the naked.” But, sadly, they do not.

The conservatives want to use the power of government to force people to live, what they consider to be, a moral lifestyle. The liberals want to use the power of government to force people to be charitable and help their fellow man. The Christian libertarian, like me, understands that both philosophies are flawed. The do not take into account flawed human nature. Both sides are fighting for their own form of progressivism, while the libertarian fights for freedom across the board.

In the end, the way you live your life, your salvation, and your donations to charity are personal decisions. No one can do it for you. I have no right to tell you how to live, and I have no right to elect government officials to impose my views on you, morally or economically. The Christian libertarian seeks to remove the power of government from the individual person’s life, and allow them to make their own choices. If you want people to live a moral life, lead by example. If you want people to be more charitable, lead by example.

Charitable giving, just like salvation, can not be forced on anyone. To do so, is theft, and a sin. Conservatives and liberals both have it wrong when trying to equate their political philosophy with their Christian theology. The Christian libertarians have it right.
