Dim Bulbs

I, Foxwood seem to be a little slow on this one. George W. Bush signed the “The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007″ in January 2008. This bill includes the removal of incandescent lights, starting in 2012. Bush had caved in to the Lefty pinko environment agenda.

This agenda is based on false facts conjured by liberal professors that get their money from Commie lib politicians who want these false facts to make money and control the rabble (that’s us).

I don’t have a problem with saving energy, or saving the environment, but to be told that ‘we will save energy and the environment’ is beyond the scope of the Constitution. I will remind you again. The 10th Amendment says that what is not in the Constitution, is for the States and the people to govern, and energy and the environment are not in the Constitution.

So with this piss hole act that was passed, we will be forced to buy compact florescent lights. They are more energy efficient. That’s nice.:)

Let’s use some logic and role play (No Gina, Put down the maid uniform). Stores in the US buy these CF bulbs from China. There are no environmental standards in China and they choose not to have any. The bulbs are made with mercury in them. They are slow boated from China in a diesel ship. Now we buy them and install them. You have to use US environmental standards to rid of old CF bulbs. If the bulb breaks, your in a world of trouble. Did I mention they contain mercury? There are environmental standards to remove the broken bulb.

What the EPA says to do…

Before Clean-up: Air Out the Room

1 Have people and pets leave the room, and don’t let anyone walk through the breakage area on their way out.
2 Open a window and leave the room for 15 minutes or more.
3 Shut off the central forced-air heating/air conditioning system, if you have one.

Clean-Up Steps for Hard Surfaces

4 Carefully scoop up glass pieces and powder using stiff paper or cardboard and place them in a glass jar with metal lid (such as a canning jar) or in a sealed plastic bag.
5 Use sticky tape, such as duct tape, to pick up any remaining small glass fragments and powder.
6 Wipe the area clean with damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. Place towels in the glass jar or plastic bag.
7 Do not use a vacuum or broom to clean up the broken bulb on hard surfaces.

Clean-up Steps for Carpeting or Rug

8 Carefully pick up glass fragments and place them in a glass jar with metal lid (such as a canning jar) or in a sealed plastic bag.
9 Use sticky tape, such as duct tape, to pick up any remaining small glass fragments and powder.
10 If vacuuming is needed after all visible materials are removed, vacuum the area where the bulb was broken.
11 Remove the vacuum bag (or empty and wipe the canister), and put the bag or vacuum debris in a sealed plastic bag.

Clean-up Steps for Clothing, Bedding and Other Soft Materials

12 If clothing or bedding materials come in direct contact with broken glass or mercury-containing powder from inside the bulb that may stick to the fabric, the clothing or bedding should be thrown away. Do not wash such clothing or bedding because mercury fragments in the clothing may contaminate the machine and/or pollute sewage.
13 You can, however, wash clothing or other materials that have been exposed to the mercury vapor from a broken CF, such as the clothing you are wearing when you cleaned up the broken CF, as long as that clothing has not come into direct contact with the materials from the broken bulb.
14 If shoes come into direct contact with broken glass or mercury-containing powder from the bulb, wipe them off with damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. Place the towels or wipes in a glass jar or plastic bag for disposal.

Disposal of Clean-up Materials

15 Immediately place all clean-up materials outdoors in a trash container or protected area for the next normal trash pickup.
16 Wash your hands after disposing of the jars or plastic bags containing clean-up materials.
17 Check with your local or state government about disposal requirements in your specific area. Some states do not allow such trash disposal. Instead, they require that broken and unbroken mercury-containing bulbs be taken to a local recycling center.

Future Cleaning of Carpeting or Rug: Air Out the Room During and After Vacuuming

18 The next several times you vacuum, shut off the central forced-air heating/air conditioning system and open a window before vacuuming.
19 Keep the central heating/air conditioning system shut off and the window open for at least 15 minutes after vacuuming is completed.

In an NPR report…

John skinner, executive director of Solid Waste Association of North America says, “The problem with the bulbs is that they’ll break before they get to the landfill. They’ll break in containers, or they’ll break in a dumpster or they’ll break in the trucks. Workers may be exposed to very high levels of mercury when that happens.”

Skinner says when bulbs break near homes, they can contaminate the soil. Mercury is a potent neurotoxin, and it’s especially dangerous for children and fetuses. Most exposure to mercury comes from eating fish contaminated with mercury.

Its been outlawed in some states and cities to put CF bulbs in the trash, but in most states, it’s legal. Pete Keller works for the only company in Washington state that recycles fluorescent lamps, Eco Lights Northwest. He says in some counties in Washington it is illegal to put the bulbs in the trash, but most people still do.

Keller says, “I think most people do want to recycle, but if it’s not made easy, it doesn’t happen. And they’re small enough to fit in a trash can. So by nature, I think most people are not recyclers. So if it’s small enough to fit in a trash can, that’s where it ends up.”

It boils down to… THE BULB IS A PIECE OF SHIT!

If the enviro-Commies were truth full about being environmentalists, we wouldn’t be forced to use these bulbs. There is an agenda that we don’t know about yet for using these CF bulbs. But if you’ve bought into CF bulbs being more environmentally friendly, you are a dim bulb.

I bought the new energy efficient light bulbs from GE and they kept breaking at the stem during use. I came home one day to find broken light bulbs on the floor. I did a post on iCry (iReport) and shortly after was banned from CNN iReports. I don’t know what caused them to break but I stopped buying them and I haven’t had any problems since.

Aint nobody gonna do all that kind of preparation for a light bulb. Bush probably didn’t know that it was gonna go down like this.

The purpose of the envirobulbs is to fight talk radio. If you don’t have a strong signal, they cause AM radios static.
